Our Training Philosophy
We follow the Positive Reinforcement Training method.
Positive reinforcement is becoming the standard for dog training as more and more people become educated in the faults of the traditional corrective training methods. Dogs do not need to be intimidated, confronted, or physically dominated in order to get them to do what you ask of them.
We teach how to eliminate unwanted behaviours without having to punish the dog and instead focus on teaching the dog the desired behaviour that you are looking for. We reward the dog when they perform the correct behaviour, and ignore unwanted behaviour. By doing this, the dog will learn to make the correct decisions and perform the correct behaviour because those choices have been reinforced.
We always want to find the best possible solution to solve any issues our clients are having with their dogs without resorting to aversive techniques. We do not encourage yelling, hitting, harsh leash corrections, or any other technique that can potentially harm the relationship between you and your dog. While there is some equipment that can be used effectively in the proper hands in the most extreme cases, we want the dog to learn how to behave so we focus on teaching the dog the desired behaviour and reinforce that behaviour over and over.
We teach the dog to follow you and look to you for leadership. This will help build and strengthen the relationship between you and your dog, it will help your dog understand what is expected of him, and you will be at ease knowing your dog is a trustworthy companion who will be ready and willing to follow you anywhere.
